Biedronka launched its first Polish outlet in 1995. In 1997, the stores were acquired by the Portuguese firm Jeronimo Martins, which drove their rapid growth. Presently, it stands as Poland’s largest discount chain by outlet count. Consequently, it’s unsurprising that this brand is gradually extending its operations beyond Poland’s borders.
During March 2025, Biedronka commenced operations in Slovakia. The initial store opened in Miloslavov, situated near Bratislava. Currently, 5 Biedronka outlets function for our southern neighbors. By the close of 2026, this count is planned to reach 50 shops. Notably, Polish dumplings emerged among the store’s offerings that Slovaks particularly favor.
